Welcome to Saint Petersburg Lacrosse Club's website!

The Saint Petersburg Lacrosse Club was organized in 2003 as a 100% volunteer non-profit organization who's focus is to promote leadership, sportsmanship, and comradery in the fast growing sport of lacrosse. The club currently offers programs at the Recreation (K-4th), Youth (5th & 6th), Middle School (7th & 8th), and High School (9th-12th) levels.

Being a 100% volunteer program, the club emphasizes parent involvement in many facets, especially team coordination, fundrasing, and general support to ensure an integrative approach to promoting and advancing lacrosse in the greater Saint Petersburg area.

Currently, lacrosse is the fastest growing sport on a national scale, with Florida being at the top of the list. Our program in Saint Petersburg is complimentary to the other programs located in North Tampa, South Tampa, Clearwater, Sarasota, and other outlying areas. In addition, the Saint Petersburg High School (Green Devils) have adopted a Boys High School club team which originated from the Saint Petersburg Lacrosse Club.

Our organization is affliated with the US Lacrosse Association (The National Governing Body of Lacrosse) and is a registered member of the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter.

If you are new to the sport of lacrosse, you can learn more about the history of lacrosse by visiting the online Museum & Hall of Fame here.

LACROSSE SEASONS

  • Fall Lacrosse - We hold our annual Fall Clinics for new players 4 Sundays in October prior to the time change. These clinics are provided so kids can try the sport prior to signing up for the Spring Season. If your son or daughter likes the sport and decides to play in the Spring, then it probably makes sense to get them lacrosse equipment as holiday present, Just an idea. In the Fall we also have our tournament teams and they are created based upon interest.
  • Spring Lacrosse (Main Season) - In the Spring we start our developmental league, where we play teams from the local Tampa Bay area. Our teams practice during the week and usually have home and away games on Saturdays with travel no more than 45-50 minutes within the greater Tampa Bay area (Clearwater, South Tampa, North Tampa, Lakewood Ranch, etc.)
  • Summer Lacrosse - In Summer we have a Summer Tournament Season. Our tournament teams and they are created based upon interest. We do not normally play lacrosse past the beginning of June, since it is too hot, though many kids do Summer lacrosse camps.

ANNUAL CALENDAR

  • October: Fall Clinics (4 Sundays in October) - Recommended: Introduction to Lacrosse

  • November/December: Fall Tournament Teams (2 Months) - Optional: Experienced Players

  • January-End of April: Spring Developmental League (4 Months) - Recommended: This is our Main Season

  • May-Early June: Summer Tournament Teams (2 Months) - Optional: Experienced Players

Dragons Girls Summer 2017 Update

Hey Gang;

Now that the Spring season is over, the next St. Pete Lacrosse sponsored activities will be in the Fall. We recommend that your player take a little break and participate in another sport.  Programs that we are aware of include:

  • Pasadena Community Church Summer Basketball (email Dean Hoskin deanh@pccumc.org for info.)
  • St Petersburg Aquatics Summer Swim League (www.stpetersburgaquatics.com)

In terms of other opportunities for your child to play lacrosse.  We recommend camps, as they only last a couple of days and can provide a focused and fun experience.  We suggest that 8U and 10U players attend one camp this summer and that 12U and 14U players attend two.

One of our parents has identified the following camps that will be held in our area, which are as follows:

This list is not comprehensive, a google search will reveal other opportunities….

There are also some local open leagues/tournaments:

Most Summer/Fall travel teams have already set their rosters.  Programs that run these types of programs are as follows:

  • Wesley Chapel Athletic Association – Limitless Lacrosse.
  • Soul lacrosse - Fishhawk and South Tampa.
  • Northwest Tampa - Sandsharks.

The Summer season for these teams is underway (they usually finish playing games in mid-June). If you are interested in joining a team as an alternate contact their administrator.

Thanks, Go Dragons!

2107 Summer Tournament Teams

2017 Summer Boys Tournament Teams

Hello Lacrosse Players and Parents,

Our club has decided to run summer high school boys teams this year.

At this point in time we are considering fielding a HS-B (9th-11th Grades) Team. If we have a good turnout, then we will break out into two teams. There needs to be a minimum of 21 players per team for the summer tournaments.

The details are located below. If anyone has an interest in having a HS-A (10th-12th) Team or a U15 team, please reach out to me at .

SIGN UP ASAP: We need to have all registrations completed by April 23rd. Please register online now and you can pay later. We need a head count as soon as possible, so we can order uniforms. The coaches may have a formal tryouts/evaluations, if we have too many players register and possibly break out into two distinct high school teams if we have too many players register.

ADDITIONAL TOURNAMENT CONSIDERATION: We may add the Tampa Jam (June 25th/26th in Plant City) to the tournament list, provided there is enough interest. There will be a separate charge for this, which we will post at a later date. This tournament is considered optional at this point in time.
